Impossible made Possible!
When the angel Gabriel spoke to Our Blessed Mother that she was going to be pregnant and bear God’s son through the power of the Holy Spirit, the natural question from her mouth was: “How is this possible?” She is right. How could this be? And the angel simply assured her: “All things are possible to God”! It doesn’t get simpler than that. The answer didn’t satisfy her logical mind. But she believed without understanding the how. Fast forward: how is it possible that God came in person? Still today, it is the subject of volumes of books and debates. Some think it did not happen. But since Jesus Christ is a historical figure, others believe he is not God but a great man; a guru! But not more than that. Yet, the light that shines through him and in his words continue to dispel the darkness in our hearts and in our world, anytime we let him in!
All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well, God told Julian of Norwich. It is this unflinching faith in the inscrutable power and wisdom of God, that the human reason finds it hard to fathom. I was listening to someone the other day who kept saying: “there is no evidence”! Well, it depends on which paradigm of understanding you are using in looking for the evidence. For those who believe, all things are possible, and for those who do not believe, such statements are pure nonsense and almost superstitious. Yet, faith in the God of the impossible led someone like Mother Teresa of Calcutta to transform the human landscape of India and the world. But so does God want to transform our lives: nothing is impossible to him. Only let him lead and guide you. May the peace and joy of this season be with you all. Amen
