Registration for Baptism begins by calling the Parish Office. You must be an active member at one of our three parishes – by which gives witness of your commitment to living our Catholic faith.   We do not deny Baptism to a child if the parents are unmarried or not married in the Catholic Church. Persons who are registered in another parish, and wish to have their child baptized at one of our parishes, for a just cause, MUST have their pastor submit a letter granting permission and confirming you are an active member.    Parents and Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class.

Baptisms are typically scheduled for the last Sunday of the month.

To schedule your preparation courses and a Baptism, please contact the parish office at
313-383-8514.

In Baptism, we are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. We are invited to submit our hearts to Christ with ever deeper love.

At that moment, God’s saving grace, His very presence, enters into the human soul. The essential rite of baptism is very simple. The person celebrating the sacrament (usually a priest) says ‘I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit’ while pouring water over the head of the person receiving the sacrament or dipping the person in water.
